Our trees are an important part of our planet, our environment, and our property. We invest a lot of time and money into caring for them and are rewarded with their natural beauty, wildlife, protection and the air we breathe. Protect your valuable trees through treatment and prevention of disease and insects. Two of the most effective treatments are trunk injections and soil drenches.

Soil Drenches

Our basal soil drenches deliver the treatments your tree needs as close to the base of the tree as possible. This direct application is applied so the tree can maximize the treatment and quickly absorb the material internally through its root system with minimal waste. Once this product is in the plant it moves throughout the entire plant protecting the leaves, twigs, branches and trunk. Protection can last up to 12 months against most types of chewing, sucking, and boring insects.

Trunk Injections

Sometimes you need to get a treatment directly into a tree; this is when trunk injections come in. Much like how an IV delivers medication or nutrients directly into a human, trunk injections are delivered directly into the trunk of the tree with the aid of air pressure. This system is environmentally friendly, does not harm the tree, and is highly effective. A single treatment often lasts several years and is the safest option for keeping your property free of chemical residues. Plus, it allows the tree to absorb the treatment directly, at its own speed.

Pro Tip: Don’t Wait Until It’s Too Late

Many of our treatments address common problems before they do enough damage to your trees that recovery is not an option. It is much more economical to prevent disease and insect damage than to remove and replace a tree that is too far gone.

Common Questions About Soil Drenches & Trunk Injections

What are the benefits of soil drenches?

We apply the product directly to your soil so there is never any risk of spray drift. When applied, you can be assured no beneficial insects will be harmed, as control is only for insects feeding on treated trees or shrubs. Soil drenches protect the entire plant, leaves, twigs, branches, and trunk.

Some of the insects controlled by soil drenches include Aphids, Adelgids, Lacebugs, Leafhoppers, Leafminers, Meallybugs, Psyllids, Soft Scale, Black vine weevil larvae, and most leaf feeding beetles (including Japanese Beetle & several types of Borers).

When should a soil drench be applied?

You can apply Soil Drenches anytime during the growing season, but ideally you want to apply to plants as a preventative, before the insects are due to arrive. Treatments can take several days to weeks for the material to move throughout the entire plant. Our ISA Certified arborists or Service Advisors would love to help educate you on the timing of treatments and why they are specific to each treatment.

What are the most common trunk injections?

There are micro injections and macro injections with varying amounts of treatment materials. The type of injection your tree requires is dependent on the specific situation, disease/insect, and type of tree. Proper diagnosis and treatment can be determined by one of our ISA Certified Arborist; there are many different types of treatments, diseases and infestations.

  • Bacterial fungicide injections may require other specific steps that need to be taken to control bacterial infections like Fire blight. Fire blight affects Ornamental Pear trees, Crabapples, Hawthorn, and any other plant in Rose family.
  • TREE-Age Injections control and protect from Emerald Ash Borer. Emerald Ash Borer feed on all Ash trees in both their larva and adult stages.
  • Verdur Iron Injection is a macro treatment to combat nutrient deficiencies common to Oaks, Birches and Maples. This is a temporary solution not a cure to the problem. This treatment will stop damage being done from chlorosis. The earlier the problem is treated, the better the results will be.
  • Verdur Manganese Injection is a macro treatment to combat nutrient deficiencies common to Oaks and Maples. This is a temporary solution not a cure to the problem. This treatment will help stop damage being done from chlorosis. The earlier the problem is treated, the better the results will be.
