Our Lawn Care History
My name is Kevin Vogeler. I was born and raised in Palatine and currently live in Cary. I founded Turf Care Enterprises in 1986 on a simple desire to bring better and safer lawn care to our local northwestern Chicagoland community.
I had grown tired of the traditional lawn care methods that were being used in this area, watching large tanker trucks spraying the same chemicals and pesticides to all lawns, whether they needed them or not. This approach was not only incorrect for our local lawns, it posed unnecessary safety risks to families, their pets, and the environment. I set out to make a difference for my neighbors and my local community.
So, I developed a natural-based holistic approach to lawn care and founded Turf Care Enterprises, Inc. I knew plants have the innate ability to build natural defenses against insects, diseases, and environmental problems, provided they were healthy enough. I understood that each lawn was composed of different grass types and cultivars, that these plants had specific needs, and they were subjected to their own unique challenges. I knew if I was going to do what was best for each lawn, I had to care for them individually, making sure each received exactly what they needed. So, we at Turf Care use primarily natural, mineral, and organic materials combined with sound cultural practices to improve the health of local lawns on an individual and personal level.
This is why we personalize our programs and treatments around the unique needs of each individual lawn. Our tailored approach allows each lawn a better chance to reach its optimal potential. Not only do we create healthier, thicker, and greener lawns, we do it using very little pest control materials. Since 1986, our use of pest control materials has averaged less than 3% annually. What we started back then is known today as Integrated Pest Management (IPM). We are proud to say that today, all the treatments we used on lawns, trees, and shrubs are not only effective, but are clinically proven to be less toxic than common table salt.
Thousands of local homeowners have embraced our natural-based, holistic approach. They are enjoying greener, thicker, healthier lawns that are safer for their families, pets, and our environment. I hope you will consider joining them.
